Thoughts and Dreams of a Labruskie

All About An Indi Dog

I'm a Husky/Retriever Cross with a quizical expression.(Does that make me a Labruskie or a Husktriever) I came to live with my owners from Manchester on 24 November 2008. My family is two humans B & P, assorted wildlife, extended family humans and lots and lots of fish!!

Welcome to My World

Welcome to my New Site - I hope you like it! Keep up to date with all my adventures or check out my rated walkies suggestions If you would like to leave me a message please remember it doesn't appear right away as I have to do something called moderating - it is a bit like chewing - to make sure nothing in your comments will be worrying to a little pup!

Kong-a-lot

I like my new Kong toy - I really do - it had frozen nutty stuff inside and I licked and licked it - there is a little bit still in the top where I can't get to it so I have left it for later.

I was a good boy in my special house and gave Bethy some peace while I had my kong - she got boring jobs done! I did get a bit worried at one point but she came and sat next to me and I knew it was all ok.

Now I have a question - sometimes when I look in shiney things I see a little doggy looking back - now he is a very handsome doggy but when I get brave enough to go and look closer he disappears. Where does he go - I invite him to play but he never does :(

I am looking forward to next weekend as I am going to meet three doggies called Bailey, Amber and Ben - I really hope they like me and want to play and share their toys with me.

Tatty tail twitch till later - Raggy Sheep is upto no good and needs chewing!

Frosty Paws

Oooh it is chilly outside the grass has gone all crunchy and makes my paws tingle, apparently this is called 'frost'. I dont know why but it makes me want to bounce like my new red ball, so that it what I have been doing for the past half hour - bouncing around in the frost and playing with my ball and some bubbles too!

The pond has gone all hard too and I can see the fish under it looking at me! hatching their plans - I stood on it with my paw but the hard went all soft and I got a wet foot - it is very hard to make sense of it all

right I am going to have a power nap now as it is going to be 'Kong' time soon - I saw it being put in the freezer earlier and it looks like a really good toy

Catch Ya later!

Busy day

Today I have been helping Beth make me some delicious doggy biscuits - we have called them IndiOs (except when Ellie is eating them when they are EllieOs) after I watched the mix carefully measured out, mixed and something called kneaded (looked like playing to me!) I watched very carefully as little bone shapes were cut out and then they were put in the hot place - they smelt great and I was a bit fed up about having to wait for them to cool down but boy they were worth it! Can't wait for Bedtime now!

I also went out for a carry to the post box it was a long way and Beth had achey arms by the time we came home - says she will have to do weight lifting! I met some new people and saw a big lorry which was a tad worrying but Beth kept me safe so it was OK - I am trying to be a brave boy as I can't be a scaredy dog when I grow up.

Then if all that wasn't busy enough I went out this evening to see Ellie at her house - we had a little play and I tried to be a good boy - Ellie shouted a couple of times but she was just making sure I didn't get into trouble. I am going to stay with her for the day on Monday as Beth and Phil have to go to something called an Office so I will have to be on my best behaviour! Maybe I will take my new Ball that Uncle Keith bought me - it is really good to chase and bring back and best of all it is red.

Off to bed now as I am a very tired puppy - tomorrow I am going to have something called a Kong - not sure what that is but I am hoping it is something to do with the tasty nutty stuff I licked off Beth's finger earlier - so need to make sure I have had a big sleep ready for that.

Night Night x

Bubbles

Wow what a great thing is a bubble - you can leap through the air and bite them, you can sit on the floor and watch them falling down then leap up and bite them, you can fly through the air and grab them as they emerge from the bubble blower - although this usually ends up with the blower spluttering a bit and a gap in the production of bubbles to bite.

I have to say though they do taste a bit erm clean!!

All I want for Christmas

Right I am hearing all about this thing called christmas and these things called presents which a man in a red suit will bring me (is that Phil in his dressing gown I wonder as I am a bit hazy about the details!)

So here Father Christmas is what I would like please

A big studded collar - if I have to wear this thing then I want Macho not this pretty little one Beth chose
Lots of Chews
My own Setee - I keep trying to suggest Beth and Phil might like to sit on the chairs and leave the setee to me but they wont so think I should be allowed to have my own!
Lots of Chews
A Raggy Duck to keep raggy sheep company - I really liked both in the Shop but I was only allowed to have one :(
Lots of Chews

Umm thats all I can think of so far - so if you could sort that out I will let you know if I think of anything else!

Having Fun

Well over the past few days what adventures I have been having?

I’m learning fast when it comes to being good at bed time. Its taking a little while to learn how to sleep without the company of the ‘pack’, but the upside is I have loads of room and I’m still warm and snugly.

In the garden, I’ve discovered a wonderful pond, which appears to have strange gold things in. I tried to catch one but I just got wet for my trouble so hope not to repeat that mistake again, but being a pup I might forget!

I’m really enjoying playing with ‘Raggy Sheep’ my lovely toy from my favourite shop ‘Pets@ Home’. What fun we are having, he runs away but I always catch him. I’m having endless fun biting and giving him a good chew (just to show him who’s boss). Beth & Phil are showing me how to play a game called ‘Fetch’ which is proving popular with them. I don’t mind the running back and forth but I do get tired as I’m only little.

Whilst Beth has been working on her laptop during the day I’ve tried to help and sent the odd e-mail by playing with something called a mouse. Beth tells me the mails I’ve sent are blank. I have no idea what that means but guess it must be good.

Oh and if anyone tells you Worm tablets are yummy then forget it. One word YUCK! But I guess it will do me some good.

See you soon,

Love
Indi

Thoughts of a Puppy

Phew it is hard work being a Puppy - there are lots of important jobs I have to do - there is Wagging at the postman
Keeping Raggy Sheep in check - he gets up to trouble all the time!
Keeping an eye on those naughty fish in the pond - I am sure they are up to something
Shredding paper tubes - if I can get them before the gerbils do
Fetching shoes and socks - they really do leave them laying around so I like to pile them up!
Official snuffing of the kitchen floor - when Ellie isn't here that is as it is her job really!

the list never ends!!!

And then there is the learning - gosh school can be hard - I am having to learn to sit down and wait for things and to be good and settle in my little house at bedtime and for my afternoon nap so Beth can do boring things like washing up and making sure I do my business in the garden and not the house - it is very hard to remember it all but I am trying to be a good boy not least because I get a nice treat when I get it right!

Going for a sleep now as Raggy Sheep is behaving so have to make the most of it and gosh I am a tired boy

Becoming Indi Hughes

Well, I guess I should start at the beginning.

I was born in Staley Bridge, Manchester sometime at the end of the summer 2008. So at the time of writing I'm about 12 weeks old. A very bouncey 12 weeks that is!

My Mum is a Siberian Husky and Dad is a big soft Golden Retriever (don't tell him I said that). I'm one of a litter of six. Poor Mum must have been exhausted!

Beth & Phil came and got me on 24th November and I instantly took a liking to these kind owners. This being despite the fact they took me to the vets the very next day for my 1st Jabs and 'chipping' so I'm told. It was a very big needle and I did wince, but the lovely vet told me how good I was being. But I digress, the journey back to my new home in Wigan was very exciting for such a little dog as I. I didn't like the lorries wizzing past at head height but I snuggled up to Beth and she kept me warm and safe.

When I got to my new home I met my new best friend, Ellie T Dog and she soon showed me the ropes. Beth & Phil weren't expecting to come home with a little bundle of fur all bouncey and full of beans. I ran around the house taking in all the new scents and sights. My first night was spent in a snuggly pile of towels as I didn't have my own bed and I thought it best not to ask an 'old' lady like Ellie to give hers up for me.

I needn't have worried for too long as the very next day I was taken on a shopping expedition to Pets @ Home where I met some very nice people. The nice lady gave me lots of free sample puppy biscuits and spoilt me rotten. Poor Phil who carried me was exhausted! We left the shop with a bed, a shiney new collar and lead, a big bag of dinner, and my very own bowls and of course not forgetting 'Raggy Sheep'. I also got my special house which keeps me safe when Beth & Phil have boring jobs to do. I'm currently learning to sleep in it all by myself (and a few toys of course) I'm sharing nicely with Raggy Sheep currently.

On the trip to the vets later the same day (25th Nov) I met several interesting characters which included a sickly Rabbit that was nearly as big as I am! The vet gave me a clean bill of health and said how good I was (I'm such a good puppy aren't I?).

So far its going well, I do like to howl a bit at night when left alone but I'm learning.
