Things a puppy can do in the sunshine
So why do I like it - well because of all these new things I can do!
1) get to go great walkies to places like Rivington and Lligwy beach and play with Lily!
2) learn to catch a tennis ball in the garden and not just chew it up!
3) paddle in my own self paddling pool (ok so B and P can dip their toes in too but it is MINE!!)
4) Sunbathe till my nose goes crispy
5) eat the elixer of life that is ice cream!
6) go on holidays and have really really good days out
7) go swimming!
8) help in the garden - I am excellent at controlling that pesky hose - but my attempts at weeding haven't been too successful - aparently they were B's special roses :(
Yes I think so far I really rather like it in the sunshine!
Gotta go - B is going to water the flower beds and helping is one of my biggest jobs!
Rivington Pike
Walkie Location: Rivington Pike
Human Considerations: Free Parking - but it is very popular especially with bikers so it is advisable to get there early else you will be parked so far from the pike it will be in the next county. There are two Barns at either end of the car parking area both serving food and drink and with loos. There are NO poo bins - now this means you either go for the natural approach and persuade pooch to do their business off the paths and in the rough or you carry the bags round the walk - unfortunatly many people do seem to opt for the bag carrying and then give up halfway round leaving piles of bags like trig measures.
Doggy Thoughts: Now I have been many exciting places since I joined this pack but this has to rate pretty high on the scale of great doggy places. Once you get past the boring bit with sheep in it where doggies have to be on leads you are in a wonderland of dogness. Woodland paths reach out as far as a furry eye can see and every so often you come across lakes - just waiting for a hot doggy to cool off. I carried a stick all the way round - gave up at the last fence though as my jaw was aching! I even learnt to Swim in the great lake half way up. I really really really like this walkie and am keeping all four paws crossed I get to go again soon!

Then B and P have been building things in the garden - it is called a fence and is designed to keep me out of part of MY garden - well B says it is her garden but I know the truth! So now there is a big green thing in my garden and I have been having to supervise the painting and drilling and nailing! Ok so I ended up supervising from the conservatory because of the fact I almost turned into a green doggy! But the point is I haven't had my puppy naps while it has been going on!
And if that isn't enough there have been house cleaning and Easter biscuit makings to supervise too! I never realised being a Puppy was soooooooooooooo busy!
I have discovered a new walkie tooo - Yarrow Country Park - I am hoping to go back there soon - check out my review under Walkies - Lancashire section.
Apparently we now have four days of both B and P being off work - it is something to do with this thing called Easter - Lily is coming up too - and there is something called the easter bunny to keep a look out for - I am hoping that Easter also includes some mega walkies and lots of time for sleeping!!
Off to bed now - big puppy yawns - snuff ya laters!
Yarrow Country Park
Walkie Location: Yarrow Country Park
Human Considerations: Free Parking and decent toilets in the visitors centre, clean and modern. Frequent Poo bins and well maintained paths - lots of paths to explore and guides in the centre. Dogs are not welcome to swim though and there are some steep sides down to the river and lakes so if you have a seal on legs you may want to take a stretchy lead. Excellent disabled access. There is a good cafe just down the road at Birkacre Garden Centre - but it is pricey £7 for 2 hot drinks and a bit of cake, however there are lots of picnic tables and benches around the lake so take your own (doggie water is to be found at the visitor centre)
Doggy Thoughts: WoW Wee! this is a wet dogs paradise water water everywhere but not a drop to paddle in. (had I been allowed to paddle it would have got the rare 6 out of 6 ball chuckers) I really liked it here although shouts of "Indi NO!" rang heavy in the air. There are lots of paths to explore and picnic tables incase your human gets peckish. There were lots of doggies out for a stroll the day I went so non social doggies beware you will meet lots of woofers. You can walk miles - we just went up to the fish ladder but my doggie sense says the path went a lot further than we did!

Big Walkie day!
We set off from home with a bit of lead walking along the road. I was just so excited, but I’m still not sure walking along the road. P says I need more practice. After a bit of howling outside a small cafĂ© just outside the Plantation Gate entrance to Haigh Hall, P got himself a drink and I was then able to slip the lead and run free in the grounds of the Hall.
It didn’t take me long to go dipping in the stream. Well, it was getting warm and a pup needs to cool his paws off and have a drink of some cold stream water. Further into the walk I trudged through some mud, hmm nice. P did shout though, but I ignored him. I felt my fur needed some doggy conditioning so I had a nice roll in something smelly and rank (well that’s what P thought of it).
After a bit of stick chasing and carrying we arrived at the Haigh Hall end of our walk and rested for a little while. P had his drink and I went to look at a nice man who was very well dressed in his white shirt and lovely red tie, who had popped out from the Hall for a little break. P did shout when I went over to say hello and give him a big muddy snuff! P was mortified that I’d left my mark, a big muddy print on his tie – I thought it looked better and the man was totally chill about it. P told me off and apologised to the nice man who patted me, so guess it was alright then. P was not amused with me for a little while.
We set off back home after our little break and while P was busy chatting to another doggy owner I spotted my opportunity to ‘mug’ a little boy out with his dad for his stick. Well he was waving it around and I thought he wanted to play. P chased after me in order to get the stick back as the little boy was a bit upset. After another apology P was getting a little ‘annoyed’ you could say, so best behaviour was now in order.
We came across a nice group of disabled young adults from Warrington who wanted to make a fuss over me. I sat nicely while P told them all about me; I did feel proud getting fussed over. Some of them were a bit scared but when they saw how friendly I am they soon came and petted me as well. Some new friends made there I think. It is nice to return peoples kindness. I licked a few to mark them so I will recognise them again.
Phew! A two and half hour walk, I was completely knackered when I got home. It was a busy walk as well with new people and road walking as well on a lead. P put his feet up and I curled up in my basket.
Maybe more adventures soon, lick ya later!
